Will Artificial Intelligence (AI) bring value to human made content much like handmade?

The initial days of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) for generating content was met with two reactions. One, the ones who were optimistic and said that AI is going to come up with good content. Two, the ones who predicted that the AI generated content is going to be nonsensical. As we are progressing, we are seeing that good AI services are able to come up with quality content. Be it producing text or images or videos.

Amidst all this, we are seeing a trend where people are frowning at the use of AI in certain fields. Let us be clear, AI in certain fields is preferred and will become indispensable. The AI summary for a certain topic is very helpful and is appreciated. However, AI generated music or movie or art work is not acceptable.

At the peak of industrial revolution and the advent of machines, people were afraid that machines could build physical things that were made by hand. Clothes were woven by hand. Hand looms were replaced by power looms that could weave 10 to 100 times faster than hands. Most of the things we buy today are made by machines. The precision achieved by machines is preferred even now when it comes to electronics.

Handmade

Now, we have a niche sector of handmade things. These are the businesses that promote handmade products at a premium price. I have seen people buying handmade diaries. I have seen products in exhibitions that are entirely hand made. They advertise their products as “hand made with love”.

The prediction I make is that, this will become the trend for the future. Whereby creators will advertise it specially that AI was not used in creating a work of art or literature. It is already happening!
